YOUTH EMPOWERMENT SEWING SKILLS PROJECT: CLOTHING AND SHOE MAKING.

The aim is to create employment, social change, and youth engagement for the unemployed and low income earners.

As part of NICS supporting activities, our skills for change will help in the development of the skill and talent of our youths.

THIS IS SKILLS DEVELOPMENT AND ENTERPRENEURSHIP FOR OUR YOUTH

Program Objectives

  • Provide comprehensive legal assistance to immigrants, refugees, and racialized minorities.

  • Empower newcomers with tools and knowledge to understand their rights and navigate complex legal systems.

  • Promote access to justice and legal protection for vulnerable individuals.

 

 

Support Services

  • Weekly Free Legal Drop-In Sessions

    • Free One-on-one legal consultations available

  • Assistance Areas Include:

    • Housing disputes

    • Immigration and humanitarian aid

    • Employment issues

    • Legal letter writing

    • Family reunification matters

    • Tenant education (under the Residential Tenancies Act)

  • Specialized Support for Survivors

    • Legal and emotional assistance for victims of:

      • Domestic violence

      • Discrimination

      • Hate crimes

  • Education and Advocacy

    • Workshops and information sessions to increase awareness of legal rights.

Key Services Offered

1. Client Referrals for Legal Representation

  • Immigration & Refugee Law

    • Assistance with permanent residency, refugee claims, work/study permits.

  • Employment Rights & Protections

    • Information on fair treatment, wage entitlements, workplace safety, and discrimination.

  • Housing Rights

    • Support with tenancy issues, lease agreements, and landlord disputes.

  • Family Law Support

    • Guidance on divorce, custody, child support, and family reunification.

  • Legal Aid Access

    • Help in accessing legal aid and community-based legal services.

o    The basic rights and freedoms that belong to every person simply because they are human regardless of race, gender, nationality, ethnicity, language, religion, or any other status.

Our youths got together and were able to engage in activities after the lockdown. They had picnics, enjoyed some fresh air, and spent the day at Niagara, whilst exploring the community.

•NICS will support and encourage the young people to apply for professional education

•Inspire Black youth to overcome obstacles, by keep thinking positive, innovative and being inventive

 

Dream it.

•Reaching out to several Black students who have lost interest in education. They have been tagged dropouts and underachievers

•Counselling them on how to resist oppression from peers, teachers, and the society

•Achievement of training aids such as projectors, computers etc.
